Comentário: A primeira e mais importantes banda de rock vinda de Níger, formado em 1970 na cidade de Tahoua, o grupo Azna de L'Ader vê seu primeiro álbum oficial ser lançado após 40 anos de atividade. Altamente influenciado pelo rock e psicodelia ocidental, conta com menos traços da música local que outras bandas da região e é marcado por um trabalho feroz na guitarra fuzz e bateria / percussão hipnotizante em todas as faixas, com longas passagens instrumentais e vocais em língua local. 
Com certeza uma audição obrigatória para fãs de afro-rock.  

A real freakout of a record – played by a band who must have been one of the headiest acts in Niger during the 70s! That nation's not nearly as well-known for psychedelic acts as some of the other African scenes of the time – but Azna De L'Adner can easily stand with the best of them – and maybe have even more intense electric guitar workouts than the rest – with lots of long, hypnotic solos that are completely sublime! In fact, the vocals sometimes seem like a second feature to the record – peppered in with staccato force alongside the instrumental riffs, which get plenty of support from a beautifully brooding bassist!

Comentário: Material gravado entre 1969 e 70 e lançado apenas 45 anos depois pela Shadoks de uma das mais notórias bandas escandinavas quando o assunto é hard rock. Aqui ouvimos 13 faixas que mesclam blues, psicodelia e rock pesado na melhor forma setentista: barulhenta e cheia de energia, carregadas de passagens furiosas na guitarra fuzz, além de bateria quebrando tudo e baixo pulsante. O vocal segue a mesma linha, cantado em inglês e com forte sotaque.
Excelente pérola para fãs de heavy psych e hard blues, altamente recomendado!   

After “Musiikkia Elokuvasta Julisteiden Liimaajat” and “Buttocks” here we have our 3rd release by the great Finnish band Charlies. This album was recorded in 1969 and 1970 in Charlies rehearsal room, an “drunk tank” at the local jail. Although in the end, the album Buttocks gained a good, hard reputation, they were never content with it. One night Pitkä said: ”Eero, we should have made our album from your tapes, the result would have been much different.” So the recording your hear now are those tapes the band was very happy with. Much heavier in sound, amazing electric guitar, 100% pure heavy underground sound. After 45 years this Charlies album comes out as the band wanted it to sound like with many alternative versions of songs from the Buttocks album and unknown songs as well. 100% pure Charlies!

Absolute mega-rarity, an incredible discovery and the ultimate folk-psych artifact unearthed directly from Teheran! Female vocalist Pari Zangeneh recorded this really amazing album in 1976 with a full backing band, covering a number of traditional Persian folk songs and giving them a lovely psychedelic flavor. Beautiful strings, flutes, really charming and tasty drumming, some organ and orchestration, percussion. A truly fantastic album, and one of the rarest folk-psych records

Comentário: Mike Lewis é um multi-instrumentista nascido no Canadá, porém que fez toda sua carreira musical na Alemanha, sendo membro da Wired e Moosknukkl Groovband. Este é seu primeiro trabalho solo e um dos álbuns mais raros feitos no país, com produção e participação do célebre Conny Plank. Difícil de classificar, atravessa estilos como jazz fusion, krautrock, prog e groove, dominado por jams viajantes de órgão e bateria / percussão (todos tocados por Mike), além do vocal chapado e com letras em inglês. Destaque para a suíte 'Cracked Ice', que ocupa todo o lado B do LP.

Mike Lewis is a multi-instrumentalist born in Canada, but that made all his musical career in Germany, being a member of Wired and Moosknukkl Groovband. This is his first solo work and one of the rarest albums made in the country, with production and participation of the famous Conny Plank. Hard to classify, through styles like jazz fusion, krautrock, prog and groove, led by trippy jams of organ and drums / percussion (all played by Mike), and the stoned vocals with lyrics in English. Highlight to the suite 'Cracked Ice', which takes up the entire side B of the LP.

Gravado em 1978, essas demos só foram recuperadas, remasterizadas e finalmente lançadas no início de 2016, trazendo oito belíssimas faixas de progressivo, todas instrumentais e passeando entre sinfônico e fusion. Acompanhadas por bateria/ baixo equilibrados, passagens graciosas de flauta, guitarra, sintetizadores e piano proporcionam diferentes e marcantes atmosferas ao disco, que possui raros momentos fracos.

Pérola altamente recomendada para fãs de rock progressivo, especialmente sinfônico.

The second and lost album of the legendary Catalan band Gòtic, one of my favorites of Spanish prog in the 70s. Recorded in 1978, these demos were only restored, remastered and finally released in 2016, bringing eight beautiful symphonic prog tracks, all instrumental and with some touches of fusion. Accompanied by balanced drums / bass, graceful passages of flute, electric guitar, synthesizers and piano provide different and remarkable atmospheres to the disc, which has few weak moments.

Highly recommended for all progressive rock fans, especially symphonic.

Trazendo 9 curtas faixas, não muito distantes de outras obras locais produzidas na época, baseada no som soft/ pop, mas com fortes doses de rock progressivo, especialmente sinfônico, no instrumental dominado pelos sintetizadores, mellotrons, órgão e piano, contando ainda com boas passagens de guitarra e percussão. Os vocais são todos em língua local e tratam de temas sociais e românticos.

 Only album released by the Indonesian musicians Christian Rahadi (former Guruh Gipsy) and Yockie Soerjoprajogo (former Giant Step and God Bless). Bringing 9 short tracks, not far from other local records produced at the time, based on a soft/ pop sound, but with strong progressive rock influences, especially symphonic, in instrumental dominated by synthesizers, mellotrons, organ and piano, still relying on good guitar and percussion passages. The vocals are all in local language and talk about social and romantic themes.

Aqui estão presentes 8 curtas faixas de jazz fusion, com influências acentuadas de rock e funk, todas instrumentais e típicas da época, onde ouvimos um trabalho bem desenvolvido e tocado, com destaque para guitarra, piano e sintetizadores, proporcionando um som tranquilo e agradável na maioria do tempo.

Apesar de nenhuma grande novidade ao gênero, ainda recomendo para admiradores de jazz fusion.

Little known Hungarian Jazz-Fusion act,performing at the turn from 70's to 80's.

Like many Jazz-Rock/Fusion European bands of the time like Surgery and Kamaeleon, Saturnus played light and tropical Jazz-Fusion based on smooth piano,synths and electric guitars.Their sound incorporates also elements from Funk and Blues (for example check the bass lines) and the style is quite accesible.Plenty of inspiring soloing,great guitar work,a steady and tight rhythm section along with some powerful breaks here and there compose a good music image.

The album comes recommended to all fans of breezy Jazz-Fusion with a professional attitude and a pleasant atmosphere.

A guitarra de Roy soa mais como em seus grupos de beat dos anos 60 do que em seus futuros álbuns, discreta e acompanhando o piano e vocal, apesar de alguns momentos interessantes. 
Um álbum que vale mais pelos músicos e história do que o som apresentado, mas ainda assim pode agradar fãs de rock'n'roll dos anos 50 e 60.

O destaque vai para o jam "Классический импровиз", de 11 minutos e que segue a linha do Jethro Tull.

Com certeza merece uma audição para fãs de hard e prog rock, recomendado!

In this unofficial compilation we hear 8 tracks, 5 good covers of Deep Purple, Neil Young, Ten Years After and others, showing their influences on Western rock, ranging from hard and progressive, unfortunately marked by poor quality recording, but with interesting flute, guitar and keyboards passages. The highlight is "Классический импровиз", an 11 minutes jam and in Jethro Tull style.

Certainly worth listening to hard and prog rock fans, recommended!

Comentário: A breve biografia desta banda senegalesa pode ser conferida em uma antiga postagem do blog (clique aqui). Neste segundo volume, ouvimos outras 7 faixas retiradas do mesmo ao vivo e seguindo a mesma linha do primeiro registro: longas, viajantes e muito ricas no instrumental, onde predominam as improvisações e encontro entre ritmos tradicionais e da música ocidental. O vocal em língua local é outro ponto que chama a atenção, poderoso e emotivo.

Excelente pedida para fãs de rock africano, psicodélico, jazz e afrobeat em geral.

Dieuf-Dieul de Thiès in their second volume album. This multi-talented band demonstrates on this album its ability to cross over different kinds of music, from Mbalax to Afro-Cuban and Afro-Jazz ballads without loosing any tip from its original Psychedelic Sound with the fuzz guitars, strong horn sections and percussion, which gave to the band this unique identity.

Five out of seven overall tracks feature Bassirou Sarr, a truly exceptional singer. Whether in a ballad or some explosive Mbalax, Bassirou's voice is always full of emotion. One of the two remaining tunes, a great latin cover sung by Assane Camara, shows how good performers Dieuf-Dieul actually were and finally one powerful Mbalax track sung by the great Griot Gora Mbaye, displaying his strong links to the tradition of Senegal.
