Comentário: Primeiro lançamento oficial desta banda do Zimbábue (na época Rodésia), feito 40 anos após as gravações originais nos anos 70, sendo uma das únicas sobreviventes da cena contracultural da época. Musicalmente é bastante influenciado por bandas de Zam Rock e ocidentais de rock psicodélico, mesclando com ritmos africanos. O instrumental é simples e as faixas curtas, destaque para as boas passagens de guitarra e percussão, além de letras de protesto, contra a segregação e guerra civil, sendo todas em inglês (com exceção de"Bwanawe").
Um excelente registro para amantes de rock africano, recomendado!

Wells Fargo were part of a counterculture that has been almost totally forgotten, even in its country of origin. In the 1970s, during the last decade of Zimbabwe’s War of Independence, rock music exploded with a message of unity and hope. Wells Fargo was at the forefront of the “Heavy Music” movement serving as fuel for the fight.

A culmination of afrobeat, heavy jams and psychedelic sounds, Zimbabwean rock uncovers the underground sound that has come to make up the distinctively African genre. As a part of the counterculture movement that took root in the country during the late 1970s, Wells Fargo rose to fame as Zimbabwe entered the last decade of its war for independence. In the face of a systemically racist and oppressive Rhodesian government, rock became an outlet for expression.

Comentário:  Há alguns anos atrás, postei trabalho incompleto deste músico do Marrocos no blog, porém, felizmente, no fim de 2016 seu trabalho foi relançado pela Radio Martiko e o material finalmente redescoberto. Abdou el Omari (عبده العماري) nasceu em 1945 na cidade de Tafraout e é considerado um dos primeiros músicos do país a combinar elementos da música ocidental com a da região. 
Ele tocava órgão e lançou um álbum e outros dois singles em 1976, trazendo uma interessante mistura de ritmos e percussão da música marroquina (árabe) e rock psicodélico, com alguns momentos ainda de space rock viajante. O órgão de Omari merece destaque, guiando as canções, na maioria do tempo instrumentais. Viagem garantida para fãs de música africana e "fora do eixo". 

First issue of this previously unreleased oriental psych monster from the organ king of Casablanca, combining traditional rhythms with spaced out modern sounds. Nuits D'ete Avec Naima Samin is the second part of Abdou El Omari's Nuits-trilogy. This album contains heavenly compositions for the Moroccon diva Naima Samih and some moody instrumentals in a similar vein to the previous album, Nuits D'ete.

Comentário: Power trio formado em Kyoto, em meados dos anos 70 e cujas informações são restritas. Não chegaram a lançar um trabalho oficial, apenas em 2001 antigas gravações ao vivo da banda foram lançadas em CD. O material totaliza mais de uma hora de heavy psych barulhento e cru, com longas improvisações instrumentais (sendo classificado como Jam band e até noise rock), onde dominam as passagens de guitarra distorcida e bateria 'quebrando tudo'. Os vocais aparecem ocasionalmente, raivosos e com todas as letras em japonês (com exceção do cover de 'I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier').

Uma ótima experiência para fãs de psicodelia nervosa dos anos 70.

Power trio formed in Kyoto in the mid-70's and whose information is restricted. They did not release an official record, only in 2001 old live recordings of the band were released on CD. The material totals more than an hour of noisy and raw heavy psych, with long instrumental improvisations (being classified as Jam band and even noise rock), where acid guitar and heavy drums passages dominate. The vocals appear occasionally, angry and with all the lyrics in Japanese.
A great experience for fans of nervous 70s psychedelic.

Posto aqui seu debut, dividido em 11 curtas e originais faixas de blues rock, variando momentos mais agitados e dançantes (boogie) e outras baladas arrastadas. É todo cantado em inglês, com instrumental muito bem organizado e variado, destacando-se passagens de guitarra, gaita, metais e piano.
Uma obra consistente e que certamente agradará fãs de blues rock.

Band formed in the city of Bergen, in 1974. It remained in activity for 10 years, releasing 3 albums in the early 80's, with a brief return in 2009. Here is the debut, divided in 11 short and original tracks of blues rock, varying from more boogie and dancing moments and other ballads. It is all sung in English, with very well organized and varied instrumental, highlight to guitar, harmonica, metals and piano.

A consistent work that will surely please blues rock fans.

Comentário: Obscuridade formada em 1972 e que passou por várias formações até gravar seu material em 1975, porém este não foi lançado em LP por conta de dificuldades que levaram ao fim da banda. Assim as tapes saíram em cassete no ano seguinte e são consideradas o 'Santo Graal' entre colecionadores de rock argentino. Dividido em 5 faixas, o trabalho é totalmente instrumental e de qualidade comparável às grandes bandas latinas de rock progressivo, com originalidade e grande habilidade dos músicos, onde ouvimos boas variações e passagens viajantes de guitarra e teclado.

Formed in 1972 and that went through several line up changes until recording the material in 1975, however this one was not released in LP due to difficulties that led to the end of the band. So the tapes were released on cassette the following year and is considered the 'Holy Grail' among Argentine rock collectors. Divided into 5 tracks, the work is totally instrumental and of comparable quality to the great Latin bands of progressive rock, with originality and great ability of the musicians, where we hear good variations and beatiful passages of guitar and keyboards.

Comentário: Grupo formado em Leeds, na Inglaterra, por jovens locais. Lançaram um único e raríssimo álbum de forma privada, posteriormente relançado em CD, mas ainda assim com número limitado de cópias. O guitarrista Duncan McFarlane formaria uma banda com seu nome anos mais tarde. 

O LP abre com a excelente "Horror Suite", de 10 minutos, seguida por outros ótimos momentos, mostrando ser um belo exemplo de rock setentista, que transita entre hard e progressivo, porém com consistência e fortemente instrumental.  O som é frequentemente comparado à Wishbone Ash, pela marcante presença de guitarras duplas, acompanhadas pela 'cozinha' competente. 

Group formed in Leeds, England, by young musicians. They released only one rare album privately, later reissued on CD, but still with limited number of copies. Guitarist Duncan McFarlane would form a band with his name years later.
The LP opens with the excellent "Horror Suite", of 10 minutes, followed by other good tracks, being a great example of 70's rock, that transits between hard and progressive, but with consistency and strongly instrumental. The sound is often compared to Wishbone Ash, for the presence of double guitars accompanied by the competent bass / drums.

Comentário: Primeira ópera rock da antiga Iugoslávia, com presença de vários artistas nascidos nas atuais Sérvia e Croácia, baseando-se na história da revolta de um vilarejo medieval. O LP é dividido em 9 faixas curtas e todas cantadas em língua local, porém com forte tom de dramatização e ópera (onde ouvimos coros e vocais masculinos e femininos). O instrumental é outro ponto interessante, revezando momentos sinfônicos e outros de rock'n'roll, destacando-se a presença marcante de guitarra e órgão Hammond.

Altamente recomendado para fãs de rock da 'Cortina de Ferro' e ópera rock.

First opera-rock from the former Yugoslavia, with the presence of several artists born in the present Serbia and Croatia, based on the history of the medieval village rebellion. The LP is divided into 9 short tracks and all sung in local language, but with a strong tone of dramatization and opera (where we hear choruses and male/ female vocals). The instrumental is another interesting point, symphonic moments taking turns with others of rock'n'roll, emphasizing the good presence of guitar and Hammond organ. Highly recommended for fans of 'Iron Curtain' music and opera-rock in general.

Comentário: Vinda de Graz, esse é o primeiro trabalho do casal e dupla Paul e Joseppa Musyl, que lançaram vários LPs até a morte de Joseppa, em 2015. RoZZ, cujo nome deriva dos gêneros Rock e Jazz, traz uma mistura atípica dos estilos, em momentos próxima do vocal jazz e outros de fusion e prog, com vocais femininos, letras em inglês e alemão. O instrumental varia entre passagens acústicas e outras muito bem arranjadas e complexas, onde ouvimos piano, violino, flauta e guitarra.

Ouçam e tirem suas conclusões, interessante para fãs de jazz rock em geral.

Coming from Graz, this is the first work of the duo Paul and Joseppa Musyl, that released several LPs until the death of Joseppa in 2015. RoZZ, whose name derives from the genres Rock and Jazz, brings an atypical mixture of styles, in moments close to vocal jazz and others of fusion and prog, with female vocals, lyrics in English and German. The instruments vary between acoustic passages and other very well arranged and complex, where we hear piano, violin, flute and guitar.
Listen and draw your conclusions, interesting to jazz rock fans in general.

Comentário: Conhecido músico e compositor russo nascido em Novosibirsk, responsável por várias trilhas sonoras de filmes no período soviético e também discografia solo. Neste LP, lançado na França e feito para o filme Siberiade, de 1979, ouvimos dois lados bastante distintos (talvez por conta do enredo original). O primeiro baseado em canções tradicionais russas, acústicas e com presença de coral, enquanto no lado B (a partir de "Révélation"), ouvimos som totalmente instrumental, experimental e viajante, próximo do progressivo eletrônico, onde predominam sintetizadores de Artemiev e Bogdanov.

Mais um tesouro escondido da antiga URSS, para fãs de prog eletrônico é certamente um bom pedido.

Siberiade was directed in 1979 by Russian film maker Andreyi Konchalovski. Siberiade was filmed in 1979, won the Jury Special Prize in Cannes that year, and brought him the international recognition that would eventually take him to Hollywood.
The soundtrack, never released on CD, is something of a mystery. There is a clear cut distinction between sides A and B of the record, probably related to the historical phases which the plotline describes. Side A (except track 7) contains several traditional tunes from Siberia, possibly arranged by Artemiev, through the voice of Dmitry Bouzilev.
Side B, by contrast, features synth-washed prog experiments by the Soviet band Boomerang (Бумеранг). This short-lived group includes Edouard Artemiev (better known for his soundtracks for Tarkovski's Solaris and Stalker) and Yury Bogdanov on the synths, backed by drums, bass and guitar, oscillating between more straightforward prog and ambient-like pieces. Tracks A7 and B5 are also played by the USSR State Cinema Orchestra, Révélation being one of the most interesting scores included here.

Comentário: Grupo vindo de Toronto, ativo na primeira metade dos anos 70 e que ganhou certa popularidade local, lançando cinco LPs e vários singles, inclusive acompanhando Pierre Trudeau em sua campanha política em 1972. Neste segundo disco, dividido em 14 curtas faixas, ouvimos uma boa mescla de boogie, blues e country rock, típico da época. A guitarra guia o instrumental, com riffs e solos marcantes, acompanhada por piano, metais, gaita e percussão. Destaque para "Too True Mama", "Oh What A Feeling",  "Murder In The First Degree" e "Mountain Fire", apesar de ser uma obra consistente.
