Pérola formada em 1979 em Sainte-Rose, comuna da pequena ilha de Guadalupe, pertencente a França e localizada no Caribe. O grupo Gwakasonné foi um dos pioneiros em produzir música 'comercial' na região, lançando 2 LPs e um EP na década de 80 por selos franceses, infelizmente poucas informações restaram sobre a banda. O líder Robert Oumaou seguiu carreira solo e continua ativo no meio musical.
Posto aqui o homônimo e provavelmente primeiro álbum dos caras, lançado em 1984. É um trabalho curto, dividido em 5 faixas e totalizando menos de meia hora, mesclando ritmos caribenhos ("Gwo Ka") com jazz-fusion. O instrumental é reflexo desta mescla, muito bem trabalhado, onde ouvimos uma grande quantidade de instrumentos, destaque para percussão, flauta, teclado, saxofone e metais, acompanhando o vocal em francês, que aparece esporadicamente. Quanto as faixas, apesar de raros momentos ruins, o destaque vai para as viajantes "Algérie 62" e "Pita".
Uma bela "porta de entrada" para ritmos caribenhos e afro-latinos, disco recomendado!

Post here the self-titled and probably the first album, released in 1984. It is divided into 5 tracks and totaling less than half an hour, mixing Caribbean rhythms ( "Gwo Ka") with jazz-fusion. The instrumental reflects this mix very well, where we heard a lot of instruments, especially percussion, flute, keyboard, saxophone and metals, accompanying the vocals in French, appearing sporadically. As for the tracks, although few weak times, the focus is on the travelers' Algérie 62" and "Pita". A great album to introduce for Caribbean and afro-latin rhythms, recommended!
