Comentário: Trio formado por ex-membros da lendária banda romena Phoenix em 1978, que buscavam um projeto de maior sucesso comercial. Estabeleceram-se na Alemanha, onde lançaram seu único LP no ano seguinte e se desfazendo em 1980, sem o resultado esperado. O disco é dividido em 10 curtas faixas de hard rock e, como dito, com uma sonoridade mais direta e simples, típica da época. O instrumental é simples, guiado por passagens intensas de guitarra, além de bateria / baixo competentes; o vocal é também rasgado e todo em inglês. A produção infelizmente deixa a desejar.

Apesar de pouco original, ainda é interessante para fãs de hard rock e de música do leste europeu.

Trio formed by former members of the legendary Romanian band Phoenix in 1978, trying to achieve more success in the Western Europe. They settled in Germany, where  their only LP was released and disbanded in 1980, without the expected result. The disc is divided into 10 short tracks of hard rock and, as said, with a more commercial and simple sound, typical of the time. The instrumental is straight, guided by intense passages of electric guitar, besides drums / bass competent; The lyrics are all in English. The production unfortunately disappoints.
Although unoriginal, it's still interesting for fans of hard rock and Eastern European music.

PROG/ PSYCH ROCK - ROMANTICII - Rondelul Cupei De Murano (EP) - 1973

Pérola vinda da Romênia, formada no começo dos anos 70 na capital Bucareste. O Romanticii (também conhecido como Formatia Romanticii) nasceu graças ao tecladista Mircea Drăgan, ex-membro da influente banda local Mondial. Tiveram uma curta duração, lançando dois EPs entre 1973 e 74, se desfazendo logo em seguida após a saída de membros para outros grupos, como o próprio Mondial e FFN. 

Posto aqui seu primeiro registro, de 1973, que traz as curtas músicas "Rondelul Cupei De Murano" e "O, rămîi" no lado A e fechando com a excelente "Crăiasa din poveşti". Aqui o destaque vai para o instrumental, onde a banda mostra grande potencial, combinando influências progressivas e psicodélicas no órgão, guitarra e flauta, infelizmente o vocal dá um ar mais comercial, principalmente nas duas primeiras faixas.

Romanticii comes from Romania, formed in the early 70s in the capital Bucharest. Their leader was organist Mircea Drăgan, a former member of the influential local band Mondial. Had a short time of activities, releasing two EPs between 1973 and 74, after the disbaning, some members joined other groups, as Mondial and FFN.
Post here their first record, 1973, which brings the short songs "Rondelul Cupei De Murano" and "O, rămîi" in the side A and closing with the excellent "Craiasa din poveşti". Instrumental is the highlight, where the band shows great potential, combining progressive and psychedelic influences with organ, guitar and flute passages, unfortunately the vocals gives a more commercial feel, especially in the first two tracks.

Pérola vinda da cidade de Oradea, leste da Romênia, formada no final dos anos 60, mas em uma comunidade local de húngaros. O Metropol (também conhecido Metropol Group) lançou 4 álbuns no total, conseguindo certa popularidade local no fim da década de 70 e começo de 80. A banda se desfez em 1995 após a morte do baterista e líder Ráduly Béla.
Posto aqui seu primeiro LP, Égig Érhetne Az Ének (A música pode alcançar o céu), lançado apenas em 1978. É composto por 10 curtas faixas dominadas pelo típico "hardão setentista", com alguns traços de proto-metal, bastante simples, direto e de raros momentos comercias. A guitarra pesada guia o instrumental, com bateria barulhenta e ainda passagens de gaita, teclado e acústicas com violão e percussão. As letras são em húngaro.
Pérola recomendada para fãs de hard rock obscuro dos anos 70.

Pearl comingo from Oradea, eastern Romania, formed in the late 60's, but in a local community of Hungarians. Metropol (also known Metropol Group) has released 4 albums in total, getting some local popularity in the late 70 and early 80. The band broke up in 1995 after the death of drummer and leader Béla Ráduly.
Post here their first LP, Égig Érhetne Az enek (Music can reach the sky), released only in 1978. It consists of 10 short tracks dominated by the typical 70s hard rock, with some proto-metal traces, quite simple and with rare commercial moments. The heavy guitar marks instrumental, with loud drums and even harmonica and keyboard passages. The lyrics are in Hungarian. Recommended for obscure 70s hard rock fans.

HARD PROG - SFINX - Lume albă - 1975

Pérola vinda da Romênia, o Sfinx foi uma das maiores bandas do país nos anos 70, junto com o Phoenix e pioneiras em rock progressivo. O grupo começou com jovens da capital Bucareste em 1963, tocando covers de conhecidos artistas britânicos, após várias mudanças na formação lançaram o primeiro LP em 1975. Apesar de sucesso do debut, o Sfinx se consagrou no rock do leste europeu e ainda é lembrado por seu segundo álbum: Zalmoxe, de 1978. Na década seguinte a banda voltou seu som para pop/ disco e acabou se desfazendo sem conseguir sucesso.
Posto aqui Lume albă (Planeta branco), disco de estreia de 75. É composto por 9 faixas, maioria curta, mas de ótima qualidade, misturando rock progressivo com hard rock e ainda elementos de folk, space e fusion. Instrumental criativo e competente, com ótimos solos de sintetizador e guitarra se revezando, lembram nomes como King Crimson ou Camel, contando ainda com belas passagens de violão e flauta. As letras são todas em romeno, dando um toque único para a obra. Destaque para as músicas "Sinteze", "Lume albă", "Muntele" e "Om bun", apesar de poucos momentos fracos.
Pérola altamente recomendada para fãs de hard rock e progressivo.

You shouldn't expect by a band from Romania, a country with limited tradition in Progressive Rock, to break new grounds, but Sfinx appeared to be more than just a talented band on ''Lume alba'', exploring music fields that were almost forbidden for other groups.They played a mix of straight Hard Rock with some supporting poppy tunes, but I also encounter lots of folky influences and spacey, Fusion touches in their sound.The standard-structured tracks are rather of limited interest for fans with no access to the Romanian language, containing lots of punchy guitars, catchy choruses and dynamic grooves, which are sometimes surrounded by discreet keyboard sounds.But there are also tracks in here that are surprisingly good and beyond their time regarding the Romanian Rock scene.For example ''Sinteza'' is powered by great electric solos and a marching rhythm section, accompanying some impressive Moog synth solos with a slight spacey underline or the title-track, which sounds extremely trippy with its wordless vocals, background bass lines and soaring synth lines.''Muntele'' is very interesting as well, some of the guitar parts recall King Crimson at their mid-period, the Hard Rock leads are still in evidence, but the semi-symphonic synths, the powerful breaks and the changing climates add a personal aura in this piece.''Calatorul si copacul'', the opening track is a nice attempt in Folk/Pop with great violin work by Aldea, while the swansong of the album, ''Om bun'', is a beautiful piece of archaic Prog Folk with a slight Medieval atmosphere, featuring poetic voices, traditional flute lines and light bass work.
That's what should be called Art Rock.Not groundbreaking by any means, however ''Lume alba'' remains a hidden gem of versatile Eastern-European Rock music with multilpe influences, likely to satisfy all lovers of flexible listenings.Recommended.

Pérola vinda da Romênia, formada em 1971 na capital Bucareste pelo guitarrista Gabriel Litvin e pelo baterista Florin Dumitru, ambos ex-membros dos grupos Mondial e Romanticii. A banda FFN, abreviação de Formaţia Fără Nume (em português, "Formação Sem Nome") lançou três álbuns entre 1976 e 81, quando se desfizeram. Em uma recente reunião um novo CD foi lançado, "In Blue Jeans", de 2008.
Posto aqui o debut de 1976, intitulado Zece paşi. O som dos caras traz uma caprichada mistura de hard rock setentista, com riffs e solos pesados e marcantes de guitarra, alternando com bonitas passagens de flauta e sintetizador, típico do rock progressivo, lembrando em alguns momentos Jethro Tull. As letras são todas em romeno, dando ainda mais singularidade ao disco. Entre as 10 faixas presentes, é difícil destacar algo em especial, pois está cheio de ótimos momentos, mas "Cetatea noastră", "Omagiu" e "Soare de-aş avea" chamam mais atenção.
Hard Prog bem feito, com instrumental afinado, pérola recomenda para fãs do estilo.

Pearl coming from Romania, formed in 1971 in the capital Bucharest by guitarist Gabriel Litvin and drummer Florin Dumitru. The band FFN (Formaţia Fara Nume) released three albums between 1976 and 81, when disbanded. 
The debut from 1976 is titled Zece Pasi. The sound brings a great mix of seventies hard rock with heavy riffs and solos of guitar, alternating with beautiful passages of flute and synthesizer, typical of progressive rock, at times reminiscent Jethro Tull. The lyrics are all in Romanian. Among the 10 tracks present, it is difficult to highlight something special because it is full of great moments, but "Citate Noastra", "Omagiu" and "Soare of them avea" most attention. Well done Hard Prog, recommended for fans of the style.

FOLK PROG - SAVOY - Lied Cu Fluturi - 1978

Savoy era uma banda Romena conhecida durante anos 70 e 80, começando na capital Bucareste em 1969, como grupo de apoio da cantora Margareta Pâslaru. A banda se separou em 1992, mas o líder e fundador Marian Nistor continua com uma nova formação e lançando sob o nome Savoy. Destaque para os primeiros álbuns, lançados no final dos anos 70, menos voltados ao pop.
Posto aqui o segundo disco dos caras, Lied Cu Fluturi, de 1978. Trazendo 10 curtas faixas, seguindo a linha soft/ folk progressivo, contando ainda com alguns raros momentos de rock psicodélico e guitarra distorcida. Órgão, guitarra, percussão e flauta merecem destaque na parte instrumental, as letras são todas na língua local. Destaque para as duas últimas faixas e também "La Voievozi Cu Gîndul".
Nada de excepcional, mas uma pérola legal para ouvir e conhecer, recomendado para fãs de prog/ psych e prog/ folk.

Savoy was a Romanian group that emerged in 1969 and released several albums during 70s and 80s. Post here the band's second album, Lied Cu Fluturi, 1978. It consists of 10 tracks, following the line of soft / folk prog, with some passages of psychedelic rock and lyrics in the local language. Great Hammond organ, guitar and flute moments here. Best tracks: "Vulpea", "Cu Fluturi Lied" and "La Voievozi Cu Gîndul". Nothing extraordinary, but with lots of good moments for prog fans.

HARD PROG/FOLK - SEMNAL M - Cîntece transilvane - 1980

Pérola vinda da Romênia, formada em 1977 na cidade de Cluj pelos ex-membros do grupo Mondial, Iuliu Merc (guitarra) e Stefan Boldijar (baixo, vocal). Após lançar o primeiro compacto, aconteceram algumas mudanças na formação original e a banda gravou e lançou o debut Trenul Cursa de persoane Apahida, em 1978. Já na década de 80 e 90 o Semnal M continuou lançando alguns LPs, sendo o mais recente em 2004, hoje o grupo ainda faz shows e é considerado um importante nome no rock romeno. Posto aqui o segundo disco, Cîntece transilvane, de 1980.
O álbum é composto por 10 faixas, na maioria curtas (com exceção da última), trazendo um bom e competente rock progressivo, bastante influenciado por folk no lado A, acústico e com belas melodias, e por hard rock no lado B, cheio de solos de teclado e guitarra. As letras são todas em romeno, dando um diferencial ao som dos caras. Destaque para as últimas faixas " Lungul Drum Al Nopții Către Zi" e "Mai Avem Multe De Făcut".
Nada extraordinário, mas um registro recomendado tanto para quem gosta de folk quando hard prog e para conhecer as raridades da "Cortina de Ferro".

Already in the 80's and 90's Semnal M continued releasing some LPs and still plays gigs and is considered an important name in Romanian rock. Post here the second album, Cîntece transilvane , 1980 .
Consists of 10 tracks, most short (except the last), bringing a good and competent progressive rock, heavily influenced by folk on side A, and with beautiful acoustic melodies, and hard rock B-side, full of keyboard and guitar solos. The lyrics are all in Romanian, giving a difference to the sound guys .
Nothing extraordinary, but a recommended both for those who like hard prog and folk.

HARD PROG - PROGRESIV TM - Dreptul de a visa - 1973

Pérola romena formada em 1972 na cidade de Timișoara pelo baixista Ilie Stepan (quem também viria a formar o Pro Musica alguns anos mais tarde), o Progresiv TM foi um dos mais importantes grupos de rock do país nos anos 70. A banda lançou seu primeiro LP em 1973, após várias mudanças na formação os caras voltaram ao estúdio, onde gravaram seu segundo e definitivo álbum em 1979, com um som mais voltado ao rock pesado do que progressivo, como no primeiro. Infelizmente não conseguiram muito sucesso com esse LP e acabaram alguns anos mais tarde.
Dreptul de a visa, o primeiro trabalho de 1973 traz uma típica combinação de hard rock com forte influência de progressivo (heavy prog), conta com ótimo instrumental e arranjos, destaque para a guitarra e flauta, que lembra, como sempre, o Jethro Tull e também um pouco de bandas do prog italiano. Percebe-se ainda influencias do Deep Purple, na parte mais pesada. O teclado aparece de forma bem tímida e o baixo, mesmo que "secundário" nas músicas, merece atenção. As letras são todas em romeno.
No geral uma ótima pérola, recomendada para todos os fãs de rock progressivo.

Pearl formed in 1972 in the Romanian city of Timisoara by the bassist Ilie Stepan, Progresiv TM was one of the most important rock bands of the country in the 70s . The band released their first LP in 1973 , after several lineup changes the guys returned to the studio , where they recorded their second and final album in 1979 , with a sound more geared to heavy rock than progressive, as in the first . Unfortunately not achieved much success with this record and ended a few years later .
Dreptul de a visa , the first 1973 work brings a typical combination of hard rock with a strong influence of progressive and has great instrumental arrangements, especially the guitar and flute, reminiscent Jethro Tull and also a bit of Italian prog bands . It is also noticed influences of Deep Purple in the heaviest part . The keyboard doesn't appear very much. The lyrics are all in Romanian.
Overall a great pearl, recommended for all fans of progressive 
rock .
