Comentário: Primeiro de dois discos que este músico e vocalista das Ilhas Faroe lançou em sua breve carreira no fim dos anos 70, poucas informações são conhecidas sobre ele. Este debut tem presença de vários músicos, garantindo uma grande variedade de instrumentos, apesar de ser na maioria do tempo acústico e simples. As letras são todas em língua local, mantendo forte raízes no folk nórdico, apesar de uma roupagem moderna, ora mais comercial ora mais elaborado, beirando o progressivo ou jazz rock. Apesar de poucas novidades para o estilo, ainda vale a audição, principalmente para fãs de rock 'fora do eixo'.

First of two albums that this musician and singer of the Faroe Islands launched in his brief career in the late 70s, little information is known about him. This debut has a presence of several musicians, guaranteeing a great variety of instruments, despite being in most of the time acoustic and simple. The lyrics are all in the local language, keeping strong roots in Nordic folk, despite modern versions, more commercial/ pop or more elaborate, influenced by progressive or jazz rock. Although few news in the style, it is still worth hearing, especially for Nordic rock fans.

Comentário: Das pequenas e geladas Ilhas Faroe, uma bela surpresa. Esta banda foi formada na segunda metade dos anos 70 e lançou dois álbuns em 1979 e 81, contando com o ex-membro da Burnin Red Ivanhoe, Karsten Vogel. O debut conta com 7 faixas e grande número de músicos, totalizando pouco mais de meia hora e combinando jazz fusion com toques de rock progressivo e até ritmos latinos (em "Lamba Samba"), com boa presença e algumas quebras de saxofone, flauta, guitarra e teclados. As letras aparecem em algumas músicas e sempre em língua local. 

Nada de extraordinário, mas ainda recomendado para fãs de fusion nórdico. 

This band was formed in Faroe Islands during the second half of the 70s and released two albums in 1979 and 81, with the former member of Burnin Red Ivanhoe, Karsten Vogel. The debut has 7 tracks and many musicians, totaling just over half an hour and combining jazz fusion with touches  of progressive rock and even Latin rhythms ("Lamba Samba"), with good presence and breaks of sax, flute, guitar and keyboards. Lyrics appear on some songs and always in the local language.

Nothing extraordinary, but still recommended for Nordic fusion fans.

NORDIC FOLK - SPÆLIMENNINIR Í HOYDØLUM - Same - 1977

Hoje uma postagem diferente para os seguidores do blog. Trago aqui um grupo das pequenas e geladas Ilhas Faroe, localizadas no Atlântico Norte. O grupo Spælimenninir í Hoydølum foi formado na capital Tórshavn em 1974, encurtando o nome para Spælimenninir na década seguinte e lançando vários álbuns desde então, sendo o último de 2003. Vários dos músicos que passaram pela banda seguiram projetos solo, com destaque ao líder Kristian Blak.
O debut de 1977 é dividido em 19 curtas faixas, todas na casa dos 1 ou 2 minutos. O som é puramente folk nórdico, mesclando vertentes tradicionais e contemporâneas, na maioria do tempo instrumental, acústico e muito bem executado, onde ouvimos predomínio do violino, mas também bandolim, tin whistle (flauta), piano e violões. As letras são todas em língua local e com vozes masculinas e femininas.
Bela pedida para quem curte ou quer conhecer música folclórica nórdica.

Spælimenninir í Hoydølum is a lively group of six musicians that play traditional and contemporary folk music from Scandinavia on fiddle, recorder, piano, guitar, mandolin and acoustic bass and vocals. The group’s home base is the Faroe Islands in the far North Atlantic, a small cluster of islands located between Iceland, Norway and Scotland. While they are based in the Faroes, Spælimenninir is not strictly a “Faroese” band, either in personnel or music. Playing together for over 20 years, the line-up includes one native Faroese, one Swede, two Americans and two Danes. This international collaboration has resulted in a varied repertoire which reflects each member’s heritage and illustrates the links between the music traditions of the Scandinavian countries and the United States.
