Comentário: Grupo formado em Bergen pelos irmãos Ove e Trygve Thue, ativo no começo dos anos 70, lançando 3 álbuns na época, que apesar de relativo sucesso não evitaram o fim precoce da banda. Fazem reuniões esporádicas pelo país há duas décadas. Este segundo LP é o mais raro, mesclando rock progressivo com uma pegada fusion em faixas mais longas (que, pessoalmente, são as mais interessantes), além de algumas na linha de rock clássico e country comercial, porém não ruins. A parte instrumental acaba sendo destaque frente aos vocais em inglês, que não agradam tanto, lideradas pelas boas passagens de órgão e guitarra.

A group from Bergen formed in 1970. Thue, Thue and Halvorsen earned their living as musicians during the local staging of the "Hair" musical. Their first album was a really mixed bag with moments of both glory (the beautiful, pastoral "Couple Of Freaks", the energic progressive rock of "Don't Look Back" and the warbling, quasi-psychedelic "Fly") and failure (the hopeless "Opus 1", the painstakingly naive "All The Time" and the tedious "So Long"). Main writer Ove Thue had a fascination for The Beach Boys and The Beatles, resulting in some favorable vocal arrangements. The problem for Saft was the lack of a specific sound and the mixture of English and Norwegian lyrics. "Horn" managed to maintain a more homogenous sound throughout, mixing song-based jazzy progressive rock with American folklore. The group slowly drifted apart with Trygve Thue joining Rune Walle in the short-lived group Hole In The Wall. Walle followed Thue back to a revamped Saft. Their new album Stev, Sull, Rock & Rull (1973) merged simple rock'n'roll, folk and country to much critical and popular acclaim, but will be of restricted interest to foreign collectors several decades later.

Comentário: Banda norueguesa cujas informações são praticamente desconhecidas, a não ser o nome dos membros e o lançamento deste único single em 1972, pela Experience Records. O guitarrista Robert Birkeland formaria futuramente o grupo Allison. Ambas as faixas presentes no compacto são curtas e cantadas em inglês, trazendo uma pegada influenciada pelo 'hardão setentista', ao estilo power trio, e clássico. Destaque para o trabalho pesado nos riffs e solos de guitarra, acompanhado por baixo marcante e bateria furiosa. Certamente uma banda que tinha capacidade para lançar um álbum completo, mas infelizmente ficou pelo caminho.

Norwegian band whose information is practically unknown, other than the name of the members and the release of this single in 1972 by Experience Records. The guitar player Robert Birkeland would later form the group Allison. Both tracks in the single are short and sung in English, bringing an early 70's hard rock influenced music, power trio style, and classic. Highlight for heavy work on guitar riffs and solos, accompanied by great bass and furious drums. Certainly a band that had the ability to release a full album, but unfortunately got in the way.

Posto aqui seu debut, dividido em 11 curtas e originais faixas de blues rock, variando momentos mais agitados e dançantes (boogie) e outras baladas arrastadas. É todo cantado em inglês, com instrumental muito bem organizado e variado, destacando-se passagens de guitarra, gaita, metais e piano.
Uma obra consistente e que certamente agradará fãs de blues rock.

Band formed in the city of Bergen, in 1974. It remained in activity for 10 years, releasing 3 albums in the early 80's, with a brief return in 2009. Here is the debut, divided in 11 short and original tracks of blues rock, varying from more boogie and dancing moments and other ballads. It is all sung in English, with very well organized and varied instrumental, highlight to guitar, harmonica, metals and piano.

A consistent work that will surely please blues rock fans.

Dividido em 8 faixas totalmente instrumentais, traz uma combinação de jazz suave e tradicional com doses de fusion, lembrando em momentos Terje Rypdal e outros escandinavos. O quarteto é composto por músicos competentes e que trazem boas variações e dinâmica para às canções, com destaque para piano e guitarra.

First solo album of this keyboardist and composer from Oslo, owner of a long discography and collaborations with important local names. Divided into 8 totally instrumental tracks, it brings a combination of soft and traditional jazz with fusion doses, reminding in moments Terje Rypdal and other Scandinavians. The quartet is composed of competent musicians and they bring good variations and dynamics to the songs, with emphasis on piano and guitar.

Comentário: Único disco do multi-instrumentista norueguês Alf Emil Eik, produzido e quase todo executado pelo próprio, com algumas participações. Dividido em 11 faixas e quase todo instrumental, traz influências claras de grandes nomes do progressivo britânico, beirando em momentos o segmento sinfônico, jazz-fusion e space, graças à passagens primorosas de Mellotron, Moog e piano, que se somam ao saxofone e guitarra, gerando uma aura mística às canções. Apesar do enfraquecimento do progressivo sinfônico do final dos anos 70, este trabalho surge como bela surpresa para fãs do gênero.

The Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Alf Emil Eik recorded and released this album on the Harvest-label in 1979. Eik produced the album himself and played all the instruments, including bass, drums, guitar, bells, moog, Mellotron and string-synths. Musically this is symphonic progressive rock with a jazzy edge. The songs vary from lush, beautiful and Mellotron-drenched tracks like "Crying" (great use and combination of the string and choir-sounds of the Mellotron) and "Heart" to energetic, jazzy instrumental journeys like "Joy" and "The Present Age". Both these tracks are some of the better fusion-influenced progressive rock I've heard, and Eik's bass playing is very impressive and reminds me in a way of Chris Squire. "Breath of Eternity" is also quite jazzy, but in a much more laid-back style and creates some pleasant and dreamy atmospheres. "To You" and "Care" are nice vocal-tracks with obvious Yes-influences in the arrangements, and there are also some nice interludes like "Morning Glory" and the majestic "March of Earth" here. This is a good album with a very nice atmosphere and was one of the few symphonic progressive rock albums released in 1979.

Pérola vinda de Kirkenes, cidade que fica ao nordeste da Noruega. Andersen / Pleym foi um duo local de curta duração e que levava o nome do seus dois jovens membros, Rolf Mareno Andersen e Kjell Arne Pleym, ambas viriam a formar o St. Helena pouco tempo depois. Lançaram um único álbum em 1971, conhecido como o mais raro do país, com apenas 250 cópias e permaneceram na obscuridade total até 2010, quando este ganhou nova edição.
Have Your Own Feeling, Have Your Own Way é composto por 10 curtas faixas que podem ser classificadas como rock e pop psicodélico, tendo como principais referências bandas da década anterior, como Beatles e Procol Harum. As canções são na maioria do tempo melódicas, onde podemos destacar algumas boas passagens de órgão e guitarra (como em "Hang Him Don't Let Him Suffer" e "Life Is Allowed to Last"), acompanhadas por vocais em inglês e bateria/ baixo.
Apesar de um pouco datado, ainda oferece bom material para fãs de psicodelia pop/ rock dos anos 60.

With an edition of only 250 copies, it can be claimed that this record is probably the rarest private press out of Norway (and the most unknown). The Andersen/Pleym-Group was basically a duo which recorded their sole album in their local school with the support of some friends. This introduction might suggest that you have to expect another record of well known cover-versions but this is definitely not the case since all featured songs are original compositions by the group. And great songs they are, melodic and natural, with a Singer/Songwriter-touch but with full instrumentation including organ, guitar and drums, bearing a strong Beatles-flavour. All the songs have been carefully remastered in order to leave the authentic feel and spirit. This reissue comes with 3 Bonustracks plus two inserts.

Pérola vinda da Noruega, formada em Haugesund, ao norte do país. Liderados pelo tecladista Tore Aarnes, o trio Octopus lançou um único álbum em 1981 de forma independente (até hoje não relançado) e desapareceu.
O álbum Thaerie Wiighen é conceitual e baseado na obra homônima do poeta e dramaturgo local Henrik Ibsen, trazendo 8 faixas de rock progressivo sinfônico e ainda folk-prog, próximo de obras da metade dos anos 70. O competente trabalho de Aarnes no piano, órgão e sintetizadores é destaque, bem acompanhado por guitarra, violão e flauta, dando um clima mais melódico na maioria do tempo. Outro ponto marcante são as letras em norueguês, dando um "charme" a obra.
Longe de uma obra-prima, mas boa pedida para fãs de prog sinfônico e escandinavo.

Octopus was a band from Norway, formed in Haugesund, north of the country. Led by keyboardist Tore Aarnes, the trio released one album in 1981 privately (not reissued yet) and disappeared.
"Thaerie Wiighen" is a album is conceptual and based on the homonymous work of the poet and playwright Henrik Ibsen, bringing 8 symphonic prog tracks, with touches of folk/ art rock, close to mid-70's albums. Aarnes' work in piano, organ and synthesizers is highlight, accompanied by acoustic guitar, guitar and flute, giving a more melodic mood most of the time. Another striking point is the lyrics in Norwegian, giving a "charm" the work.

PROG FOLK - SARABAND - Saraband's Mixdure - 1975

Pérola obscura vinda da Noruega, formada no começo dos anos 70 na pequena cidade de Trondheim. Não possuo quase nenhuma informação sobre o grupo Saraband, apenas que lançaram um disco muito raro em 1975 (alguns lugares citado como 1976), pela Experience, se acabando pouco tempo depois. O vocalista Skaugstad teve passagem pelo Nidaros e o guitarrista Gunnar Berg seguiu carreira solo.

Saraband's Mixdure é um álbum curto, apesar das 10 faixas presentes. É na maioria do tempo melódico e calmo, seguindo a linha folk/ pop rock, com alguns breves e mais complexos momentos de prog, fusion e até mesmo hard rock, lembrando outros grupos locais, como Prudence. Os temas são cantados em inglês e norueguês (as que mais me agradam), acompanhado por guitarra, teclado, violão e bateria.
Apesar de inconsistente, ainda recomendado para fãs de prog e folk rock "light".

Obscure pearl coming from Norway, formed in the early 70s in the small town of Trondheim. I do not have almost no information about the group Saraband, they just released a very rare album in 1975 (or 1976), by Experience, coming to an end shortly after. 
"Saraband's Mixdure" is a short album, despite of the 10 tracks present. It is most melodic and calm, following the folk / pop rock line with a few and more complex moments of prog, fusion and even hard rock, reminding other local groups such as Prudence. The themes are sung in English and Norwegian (better for me), accompanied by guitar, keyboard, guitar and drums. Although inconsistent, still recommended for "light" prog-folk rock.

Pérola vinda de Oslo, capital da Noruega. A dupla Finjarn & Jensen se formou em 1970 pelo guitarrista Svein Finjarn e o baterista Leif Jensen, logo após o fim da banda Jumbo. O projeto durou pouco tempo, deixando um único e raro álbum no mesmo ano, com participação de Freddy Lindquist e os baixistas Arild Krosby e Arne Kvikstad, sendo relançado apenas em 2009 pela Shadocks.
O homônimo de 1970 é composto por 7 faixas, maioria curtas, que combinam influências de variados estilos, principalmente rock psicodélico do final dos anos 60, doses de proto-prog, folk e hard rock de bandas inglesas e americanas. Letras em inglês e instrumental competente, com vários solos de guitarra, bateria e percussão aparecendo bem são as principais características do som. Destaque para "One More Day", "New Day", "Grey Skies" e "Sorry Girl, But Now I Know Things Will Be Much Better Now You've Gone".
Uma das grandes pérolas do rock psicodélico escandinavo, recomendado para fãs do estilo.

Pearl coming of Oslo, capital of Norway. The duo Finjarn & Jensen was formed in 1970 by guitarist Svein Finjarn and drummer Leif Jensen, soon after the end of Jumbo. The project was short-lived, leaving an only and rare album in the same year, featuring Freddy Lindquist and bassists Arild Krosby and Arne Kvikstad, relaunched only in 2009 by Shadocks.
The eponymous of 1970 consists of 7 tracks, most short, combining influences from different styles, mainly psychedelic rock of the late '60s, with proto-prog, folk and hard rock doses, similar to British and American bands. English lyrics and competent instrumental, with many guitar, drums and percussion solos appearing well are the main features of sound. Emphasis on "One More Day", "New Day", "Grey Skies" and "Sorry Girl, But Now I Know Things Will Be Much Better Now You've Gone".
One of the great pearls of Scandinavian psychedelic rock, recommended for fans of the style.

COUNTRY/ BLUES ROCK - ROCKFILTER - Good for You - 1976

Mais uma pérola extremamente rara vinda da Noruega. O Rockfilter foi ativo nos anos 70, originário da pequena cidade de Mosjøen e teve como líder o guitarrista Georg Davidsen, que integrou a banda Few anos antes. Lançaram apenas um álbum em 1976 e logo o quarteto se desfez. Muito pouco se sabe sobre o grupo.
O disco Good for You é composto de 10 curtas faixas, contando com bonitas baladas ("How Long Is The Night" e "My Sweet Love") e outras passagens mais dinâmicas e envolventes influenciadas pelo country e blues rock americano com ótimos solos e riffs de guitarra, mas instrumental competente no geral, com baixo, bateria e raros momentos progressivos com sintetizador. As letras são todas em inglês, com vários momentos de coro.
Interessante pérola para fãs de country e blues rock setentista, recomendado!

Another extremely rare pearl coming from Norway. The group Rockfilter was active in the 70s, came from the town of Mosjøen and had as leader guitarist Georg Davidsen, who joined the band Few years before. They released only one album in 1976 and then disbanded. Very little is known about the quartet.
The album "Good for You" is composed of 10 short tracks, with beautiful ballads ("How Long Is The Night" and "My Sweet Love") and other more dynamic and engaging passages influenced by American  country and blues rock with great guitar solos and riffs, instrumental is decent overall, with bass, drums and rare progressive moments with synthesizer. The lyrics are all in English, with several moments of chorus. Interesting for country and blues rock fans, recommended!

FOLK/ SOFT ROCK - SOLARIS - Misty Morning - 1977

Pérola vinda da cidade de Harstad, norte da Noruega. O grupo Solaris (não confundam com o homônimo vindo da Hungria) surgiu por mãos do músico Ole G.Nilssen, que lançou seu disco solo em 1976, contando com participação de vários membros do que viria a ser a banda. No mesmo ano o quinteto foi formado e lançou seus primeiros compactos. O único e raro álbum da banda saiu em 1977 pelo pequeno selo Apollo, mas sem conseguir sucesso se desfizeram logo depois.
Posto aqui o disco Misty Morning, originalmente composto por 10 faixas, mas aqui contando com 2 músicas bônus retiradas de singles, todas curtas. Trazem um rock'n'roll tranquilo e simples, com várias baladas e influências de costa oeste e country/ folk rock. Passagens instrumentais merecem destaque, com bons solos da guitarra de Nilssen, junto de piano e teclados, em faixas como "Battelfielf Green", "Micro" e "Solaris". As letras são todas em inglês, com exceção das bônus, cantadas em norueguês.
Nada de essencial, mas uma pérola recomendada para fãs de rock com pegadas country e folk.

Pearl coming from the city of Harstad, northern Norway. The group Solaris (do not confuse with the same name coming from Hungary) was led by musician Ole G.Nilssen, who released his solo album in 1976, with participation of several members of what would become the band. In the same year the quintet was formed and launched its first single. The unique and rare album came out in 1977 by Apollo small label, but without success disbanded soon after.
Post here "Misty Morning", originally composed of 10 tracks, but here with 2 more bonus tracks taken from singles, all short. Bring a quiet and simple rock'n'roll, with several ballads and influences from the west coast and country / folk rock, with lyrics in English and Norwegian. Instrumental passages are noteworthy, with good guitar solos and piano/ keyboards on tracks like "Battelfielf Green", "Micro" and "Solaris". Nothing essential, but recommended for rock fans with country and folk touches.

HARD PROG - HØST - Live and Unreleased - 2001 (1975/78/91)

Høst é um grupo vindo da Noruega, foi formado em 1971 na pequena cidade Knapstad. Apesar de ter apenas dois álbuns lançados (1974 e 76), a banda teve grande importância local, ganhando popularidade no país de origem e na vizinha Suécia. Em 1978 mudaram o nome para "Ice", fazendo apenas um show nessa época e sem sucesso se desfizeram no mesmo ano. De 1991 pra cá o grupo fez várias reuniões e pequenos tours pela região.
Posto aqui o CD Live and Unreleased, lançado em 2001 e trazendo gravações ao vivo das três "fases" do Høst. As faixas 1 até 6 são de 1975 na Suécia, as 3 músicas seguintes são da primeira reunião em 91 e as 4 últimas da única apresentação do "Ice" em 78, em um programa de TV norueguês. A banda traz seu som característico, progressivo com fortes pegadas de rock pesado (hard prog) e ainda longos e viajantes momentos instrumentais, com destaque para grande trabalho nas guitarras, teclados e raras passagens de flauta. As letras são na língua local, com exceção das últimas quatro.
Hard/ prog rock de excelente qualidade, pérola recomendada para fãs do estilo.

Høst is a group from Norway, was formed in 1971 in the small town Knapstad. Despite having only released two albums (1974 and 76), the band had great local importance, gaining popularity in the country and in Sweden. In 1978 the name changed to "Ice", doing only one show this era, without success they disbanded in the same year. 
Post here the CD Live and Unreleased, released in 2001 and bringing live recordings of the three "phases" of Høst. Tracks 1 to 6 are from 1975 in Sweden, the following three songs are from the first meeting in 91 and the last four of the unique presentation of "Ice" in 78, in a Norwegian TV show. The band brings its distinctive sound, progressive with strong influencies of heavy rock and still long and long instrumental jams, with great work on guitars, keyboards and rare passages of flute. The lyrics are in the local language, with the exception of the last four. Hard / prog rock of excellent quality, recommended for fans of the style.

HARD ROCK - JUMBO - UFO / Wring That Neck - 1969

Pérola formada em Oslo, capital da Noruega, no final dos anos 60 por ex-membros das bandas locais Taboo, Beatnicks. O quarteto Jumbo (não confundam com a banda italiana de mesmo nome) lançou apenas 2 singles nos anos de 68 e 69, se desfazendo logo em 1970. Teve na formação dois importantes músicos do rock norueguês dos anos 70, os guitarristas Svein Finjarn e Freddy Lindquist.  

Posto aqui o segundo e derradeiro compacto dos caras, lançado em 1969. Traz 2 faixas de hard rock, "UFO" e "Wring That Neck", esta última cover do Deep Purple (mostrando as principais influências dos caras). Guitarras pesadas e barulhentas, com bons riffs e solos e bateria "quebrando tudo" merecem destaque, a primeira música é cantada em inglês. Infelizmente nunca tiveram a oportunidade de lançar um LP, aqui a banda mostra sua qualidade com ótimas faixas. Pérola recomendada para fãs de hard rock!

Pearl formed in Oslo, capital of Norway, in the late '60s. The quartet Jumbo (not the Italian) has only released 2 singles in the years 68 and 69, disbanding soon after. Post here the second and last of the one. Brings two hard rock tracks, "UFO" and "Wring That Neck" (Deep Purple's cover). Heavy and loud guitars and drums, with good riffs and solos worth mentioning. HARD ROCK - SUBWAY SUCK - Little Red Album - 1979

Pérola formada em Trondheim, região central da Noruega na segunda metade dos anos 70, lançando um único LP em 1979 e se desfizeram logo no mesmo ano, pouco se sabe sobre esse quarteto. O vocalista Dag Ingebrigtsen participou de outras bandas locais de Heavy Metal nos anos 80.
O álbum Little Red Album, de 79, traz um bom hard rock, típico do final dos anos 70, com um pé no som da próxima década, algumas leves influências de punk aparecem, apesar do "hardão" ser dominante nas 10 curtas faixas presentes, um som meio psicodélico também se faz presente, em músicas como "Just In Time" e "Tomorrow's Gonna Come". Marcantes linhas de baixo e solos de guitarras são destaque no som dos caras, as letras são todas em inglês.
Nada de extraordinário, mas um som legal para fãs de hard rock com pitadas psych.

Pearl formed in Norway in the second half of the 70s, releasing a single LP in 1979 and soon disbanded, little is known about this quartet. The album "Little Red Album" brings a good hard rock, typical of the late '70s, with some 80's and punk influencies, despite the hard being dominant in 10 short tracks. Psychcedelic sounds is also present in songs like "Just In Time" and "Tomorrow's Gonna Come". Striking bass lines and guitar solos are featured on the sound guys, the lyrics are all in English. Nothing extraordinary, but a nice stuff for fans of hard rock with psych touches.

Repost do super raro grupo norueguês Bazar, que foi formado em 1971 na capital Oslo e lançou dois álbuns em 1973 e 74. Já tinha feito uma post sobre a banda no começo do Blog, mas decidi fazer este, pois finalmente tenho link para download. O segundo disco Drabantbyrock (em português Subúrbio do Rock), lançado uma única vez em 74 pela pequena gravadora local Mai, traz 10 faixas de hard rock com várias influências de rock progressivo (flauta e teclados). As letras são todas na língua local, dando um toque mais único para o todo, e segundo revisões da internet, têm temas relacionados a política e problemas sociais. Destaque para o clássico trio instrumental bateria, baixo e guitarra, principalmente para o último, mas todos muito competentes, variando momentos agressivos e outras baladas mais tranquilas, quando as faixas as melhores são "Drabantbyrock", "Vi Blir Fler Og Fler", "Olav Ål" e o excelente jam "Cm Jam".
Pérola que merece destaque entre a cena nórdica dos anos 70, altamente recomendado para fãs de hard prog rock.

Super rare Norwegian group Bazar, that was formed in 1971 in the capital Oslo and released two albums in 1973 and 74. The second one, Drabantbyrock (Suburb of Rock), was launched on 1974 by May, bringing 10 tracks of hard rock with various influences of progressive rock. The lyrics are all in the local language, related to political and social problems. Highlighting the classic instrumental trio drums, bass and guitar, especially for the last one, but all very competent, varying aggressive and calm moments, best tracks are "Drabantbyrock", "Og Vi blir Fler Fler", "Olav Ål" and "Cm Jam". Highly recommended for fans of hard prog rock.

HARD ROCK - ST. HELENA - Early Daze - 2005 (1973)

Pérola obscura vinda do norte da Noruega. O St. Helena foi formado no começo da década de 70 na cidade de Hammerfest e durou pouco tempo, sem lançar nada durante os anos de atividade. Após o fim da banda alguns membros participaram de outros grupos do país como Akasha, Blonde on Blonde e Høst. Apenas em 1991 antigas gravações de 1974 na pequena BAT Records foram lançadas em vinil no álbum Hello Friend, com som voltado ao rock progressivo. Passados 14 anos, em 2005, outras três músicas gravadas em 1973 foram lançadas no CD intitulado Early Daze, que posto aqui.
O som da banda é muito diferente nos dois álbuns, o primeiro voltado ao prog rock, como falei acima, e este último traz três faixas de puro hard rock dos anos 70, classificado em alguns blogs e sites como Proto-Metal. Ótima solos de órgão e guitarra, ao estilo Deep Purple, marcam o instrumental. Letras na língua local e a qualidade precária da gravação dão uma singularidade ainda maior para o som do grupo.
Pérola recomendada para fãs de hard rock/ proto-metal dos anos 70.

Obscure pearl from the north of Norway. The group St. Helena was formed in the early 70s in the city of Hammerfest and lasted a short time, without releasing anything over the years of activity. Only in 1991, some songs recorded in 1974 in the small BAT Records were released on vinyl in the album Hello Friend, with progressive rock oriented sound. After 14 years, in 2005, three other songs recorded in 1973 were released in the CD titled Early Daze, that post here.
The band's sound is very different in the two albums, the first returned to prog rock, as I said above, and the last has three tracks of pure hard rock of the 70s, rated on some blogs and sites like Proto-Metal. Great organ solos and guitar, Deep Purple style, mark the instrumental. Lyrics in the local language and poor recording quality also give a further uniqueness to the group's sound.
Pearl recommended for fans of hard rock / proto-metal '70s.

PSYCHEDELIC ROCK - DREAM - Get Dreamy - 1967

Dream foi uma pérola norueguesa de vida curta, o grupo foi formado em 1967 na capital Oslo, na onda do rock/pop psicodélico dos anos 60 e lançou apenas um álbum no mesmo ano até acabar em 1969. A banda foi uma das primeiras do conhecido guitarrista e, nessa banda, vocalista Terje Rypdal, além dele completavam o grupo o pianista, tecladista e organista Christian Reim, o baterista Tom Karlsen e Hans Marius Stormoen, no baixo.
O disco Get Dreamy, de 1967, traz uma boa e típica psicodelia do fim dos anos 60, claramente influenciado por bandas inglesas e americanas da época, além do rock psicodélico existem algumas passagens mais voltadas ao jazz, pop, blues, rock de garagem e até soul. Destaque para a parte instrumental, principalmente nas passagens de guitarra fuzz e órgão Hammond. O vocal agrada em alguns momentos, as canções são todas em inglês.
No geral, uma boa pérola, recomendada principalmente para fãs de rock psicodélico dos anos 60.

Dream was a short-lived norwegian pearl, the group was formed in 1967 in the capital Oslo, influenced by pop/rock psychedelic bands of '60s. Released only one album in the same year until the end in 1969. The band was one of the earliest of the known guitarist and vocalist Terje Rypdal, beyond the group completed the pianist, keyboardist and organist Christian Reim, drummer Tom Karlsen and bassist Hans Marius Stormoen.
The disc Get Dreamy, 1967, brings a good and typical psychedelia of the late '60s, clearly influenced by British and American bands of the era, some passages are more focused on jazz, pop, blues, soul and garage rock. Emphasis on the instrumental part, especially in passages of fuzz guitar and Hammond organ. Pleasing vocal at times, the songs are all in English.
Overall, a good pearl, mainly recommended for fans of '60s psychedelic rock.

SPACE ROCK - AKASHA - Same - 1977

Obscura pérola norueguesa formada no norte do país, o Akasha lançou apenas um álbum em 1977 de apenas 1000 cópias, com uma produção "precária" no prédio da BAT Records no vilarejo de Kjøllefjord, sendo extremamente raro nos dias de hoje.
O som da banda no seu disco homônimo é dominado pelo space rock e progressivo eletrônico, um som viajante e obscuro. Passa por longas passagens instrumentais, principalmente de sintetizadores e mellotron, a guitarra distorcida também tem algumas bons momentos. As músicas são todas em inglês.
Pérola altamente recomendada para quem gosta do progressivo dominado pelos teclados e de space rock.

The production isn't that great, it has that homemade feel, and was recorded in bomb cellar at hotel in the band's home town. Despite that, it's an excellent example of spacy prog, loaded with tons of spacy electronic effects off synthesizers, and tons of Mellotron that's ever present! You can't go wrong with that if you're a Mellotron fan! The singing is in English, with a strong sci-fi bent to them.

FREE JAZZ - MIN BUL - Same - 1970

Projeto do guitarrista norueguês Terje Rypdal, o Min Bul era um trio formado por ele, o contabaixista Bjørnar Andresen e o baterista Espen Rud. O grupo teve vida muito curta: formou-se em 1970, lançando um disco no mesmo ano e no ano seguinte se desfez.
O som do trio liderado pela guitarra de Terje traz uma música altamente experimental para a época, muitas vezes áspero e ruidoso (como na faixa de abertura "I Cried A Million Tears Last Night") , em alguns momentos beirando o Avant-jazz.
Pérola altamente recomendada para fãs de free jazz!

FOLK ROCK - STRENGEGJENGEN - Trå tell! - 1976

Strengegjengen foi uma pérola vinda de Kongsvinger, sul da Noruega, formada no meio dos anos 70, pelo ex-membro da banda Bazar , Øyvind Rauset. O grupo era também conhecido como Kåre Drayton's, lançando um EP com esse nome. Tiveram vida curta e lançaram apenas 1 álbum, em 1976.
O disco Trå tell traz um folk, num estilo bem "country", trazendo algumas passagens de gaita e de instrumentos locais. Os vocais são todos em norueguês e segundo alguns sites as letras são de protesto. Pra conhecer, recomendado.
