FOLK ROCK - Tír na nÓg - Same - 1971

Pearl formed in Dublin, Ireland, in the late 1960s. Tír na nÓg is a duo made up of multi-instrumentalists Leo O'Kelly and Sonny Condell and released three albums during the early 70's . The band is still touring the country. The guys are the of "first generation" of European folk and progressive rock, although they didn't achieve much success, influenced many names of the era and reached important opening for bands like Jethro Tull , ELP and The Who
Post here the debut album , the eponymous Tír na nÓg, of 1971 . Features 13 short tracks with great contemporary Irish folk rock and we also have hints of progressive rock. Acoustic guitar is the instrument with major presence, but others "atypical" in rock still appear as tablas, dulcimer, Tin whistle (flute) and even harp. The arrangements are complex and the vocals are quite nice and fits well in the songs. Remember at times groups like The Incredible String Band, Pentangle or Woods Band .
A pearl very good to hear sometimes, highly recommended for fans of acoustic and folk rock.
