HARD PROG- MOZZARELLA - In Vitro - 1982

Obscuro e desconhecido grupo equatoriano, o Mozzarella foi formado no final da década de 70 na capital Quito, o grupo lançou dois álbuns, o primeiro em 1982 e o segundo no ano seguinte, após algumas mudanças na formação original. Sem conseguir repetir o sucesso do debut a banda se desfez pouco tempo depois, em 1985. A banda ainda se reúne de tempos em tempos para alguns shows pelo país.
Posto aqui o primeiro disco dos caras, In Vitro, composto por 7 faixas, trazendo uma típica mescla de rock progressivo com hard rock. A parte prog está presente nas passagens de teclado, principalmente na longa "Promise" e "Tantas Cosas", com algumas influencias de bandas italianas e britânicas do gênero, já o som mais pesado fica concentrado em alguns bons riffs e solos guitarra, em faixas como "Cruisin" e "Muerte". O ponto fraco é a repetição e certa falta de originalidade no som, em momentos mais comerciais. As faixas são cantadas em inglês e também espanhol, com vocal agradável de Gary Huff.
No geral, nada muito original ou extraordinário, mas um disco competente e com vários bons momentos, ainda mais para um país com quase nenhuma história no rock progressivo/hard na época.

Obscure and unknown Ecuadorian group, Mozzarella was formed in the late 70s in the capital Quito, the group released two albums, the first in 1982 and the second the following year, after some changes in the original formation. Unable to repeat the success of the debut the band disbanded shortly thereafter in 1985.
Post here the first disc, In Vitro, consists of 7 tracks, bringing a typical mix of progressive rock with hard rock. The prog part is present in the passages keyboard, mainly in long "Promise" and "Tantas Cosas", with some influences of Italian and British bands of the genre, the heavier sound is concentrated in some good guitar riffs and solos on tracks as "Cruisin" and "Muerte". The weak point is repetition and a certain lack of originality in sound, with more commercial moments. The tracks are sung in English and also Spanish, with nice vocals Gary Huff .
Overall, nothing very unique or extraordinary, but a competent and with some good moments, especially for a country with almost no history in progressive/hard rock at the time.
